For Melody Munro, joining Eastgate Learning Academy is not simply the next chapter in a long career in education; it is a natural extension of the work she has been doing for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the founder of Wee College and Wee Thrive, Munro has spent much of her career focused on the earliest years of a child\u2019s development and on creating environments where children are known, supported, and given the opportunity to reach their potential. Her decision to become part of Eastgate Learning Academy comes at a particularly important moment for education in New Brunswick, as families, educators, and communities increasingly ask how we can strengthen the foundations of learning and ensure that children do not fall through the gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have always believed that education is about seeing the whole child,”<\/em> says Munro. “Academic achievement matters tremendously, but so does the relationship a child has with learning, with their teachers, with their peers, and with themselves. When those things come together, children are far more likely to believe in what they are capable of.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That philosophy is at the heart of what Munro sees as the opportunity at Eastgate Learning Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Eastgate, academic achievement and meaningful human connection are not competing priorities; they are deeply connected. We want every child to feel known, valued, challenged, and supported while also holding clear and ambitious expectations for their learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our responsibility is to build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving while ensuring that students can apply what they learn in meaningful and increasingly complex ways. When a gap in learning emerges, it should not simply move forward with a child from one grade to the next. It should be recognized early, understood, and addressed intentionally, with the right combination of support and challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want Eastgate students to develop curiosity, confidence, empathy, resilience, independence, and a genuine sense of responsibility for themselves and the community around them. We want them to understand that their voice matters, that effort matters, that mistakes are part of learning, and that being challenged is an important part of growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our goal is not to create students who are simply good at school,”<\/em> Munro says. “Our goal is to help develop young people who are knowledgeable, capable, curious, and confident enough to keep learning. We want them to leave Eastgate not only prepared for their next academic step but prepared to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Munro, that is the opportunity at Eastgate: to build deliberately, to learn from what children need today, to innovate for tomorrow, and to create an educational environment where high expectations and genuine care exist side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
